The Indy Racing League is in talk with Dallara Automobili, DeltaWing, Lola and Swift Engineering for designing the IZOD IndyCar Series chassis which will hit the track in 2012. Swift Engineering has unveiled their take on the 2012 IZOD IndyCar race car with which they hope to finalize the deal.

The aerodynamics of the Swift 2012 IZOD IndyCar race car have been developed with the help of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and various wind tunnel designs. To get various driver feedback and performance data collection from the 2012 IZOD IndyCar race car the company plans to use the Cruden 3Ctr 6-DOF motion racing simulator.

As seen from the images, the 2012 IZOD IndyCar race car offers the possibility of using various body types involving different aerodynamics situations.

“Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been a proving ground for manufacturer
s since Louis Chevrolet, our co-founder, first raced here in 1909,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “Our return to IndyCar as Chevrolet enters its centennial year is natural. At the same time this engine program will be a showcase for the efficient and powerful engine technologies that parallel new Chevrolet vehicles like the Camaro, all-new Cruze compact and Equinox crossover.”
Chevrolet previously competed in Indy-style competition as an engine man
ufacturer in 1986-93 and 2002-05 with V-8 engines, winning 104 races, powering six driver champions, and scoring seven Indianapolis 500 victories.
The Chevrolet IndyCar V6 will have a displacement of 2.4 liters and will have an aluminum block and cylinder heads, and will be a fully stressed chassis member supporting the gearbox and rear suspension. Other technical details and specifications will be released at a later date.

Indianapolis, IN–Three of the most successful designers in recent IndyCar history have joined forces, and will look to return to the winners circle at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with an innovative new IndyCar design once again starting in 2012.
Bruce Ashmore, Alan Mertens and Tim Wardrop announced on Friday the formation of BAT Engineering (Bruce, Alan, Tim) and will be submitting a comprehensive proposal to the Indy Racing League as the next chapter in IndyCar racing is being written.
The BAT proposal focuses not only on creating a dynamic new competitive platform for the IndyCar Series, but it also brings an extensive plan for job creation in Indiana.
